The Obsidian 800D, the which differed for a few details, which helped to place it on a more affordable price range. With the recent launch of the 900D, new flagship of this line, Corsair ended up with two houses similar in size to be placed on price ranges far enough apart to make room for the new flagship model.

Corsair Obsidian 750D – Overview

Rather than further lower, the selling price of the 700D with minimal profit margins, given the considerable costs of production, the California manufacturer has preferred to launch a new model Full Tower that could offer something different than its predecessor, occupying a full band ” entry level ” (so to speak) of this size. Born Obsidian 750D, the subject of today’s review, which incorporates many of the innovative solutions available on previous models, preserving intact the essential classic and elegant design.

Despite having large dimensions, equal to 546 x 235 x 560mm, for a curb weight of about 9.7 kg, the newcomer turns out to be much smaller and lighter than the 700D which will replace. Even in this case, the structure is solid steel with a brushed aluminum front panel that shows at the top a convenient I/O panel, on which there are two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports and connections for headphones and microphone.

The left lateral bulkhead is characterized by a large plexiglass window that highlights the hardware components inside, a feature on the 700D was not expected to differentiate it from the 800D model.

The top has a generous insert rectangular mesh metal, beneath which was derived a predisposition for three 120mm fans (alternatively a radiator by 360mm) or two 140mm fans (alternatively a radiator 280mm).

Extensive and customizable interior layout of the storage unit with two removable baskets, which allow the installation mode tool-less drive each of three 2.5-or 3.5-inch and four slots for specific SSD located at the side of the tray motherboard.

The supported motherboards come up to XL-ATX form factor on a large tray that, in addition to the classic opening for easy installation of aftermarket heatsinks with a maximum height of 180mm.

The packaging of the Corsair Obsidian 750D, although it is a cabinet Full Tower, it is not overly large, having dimensions very similar to the packaging of the 650D and even lower than that of the Graphite 600T.

Following the now established trend label, which has long characterized this type of product, the same is made of recyclable cardboard left in its natural color, which is imprinted on a graphic black very clear and concise.

On the front of the pack, we can observe the classic stylized image of the product at the top left, while on the lower, parts are shown the name and family membership. On the right, side is instead present a brief description, in six different languages, of the main features offered by Obsidian 750D. On the opposite side, there is a detailed exploded view of the product with its legend multilingual positioned low.

Conclusions

If you are looking for a Full Tower case with outstanding gifts and expandability with the potential for above-average cooling, the Corsair Obsidian 750D is the product for you. The build quality and finish levels remained at the usual excellent standards put on display in the Corsair Obsidian Series products, with the use of quality materials and a pair of parts completely free from misalignment or inaccuracies.

The integral painting, black in color, is just perfect, smudge-free even in the most inaccessible places, very durable and porous at the right point: enough to avoid retain fingerprints easily, but not too much to prevent the accumulation of dust.

With regard to the design, we are in the presence, once again, classic lines. You may love it or not, but they certainly are appreciated for the elegance that gives the product which, in our opinion, will never go out of fashion. The ventilation system in each room offered is a top notch, the use of fans with their generous size at low revs, and a well-designed flow system ensures the right balance between good indoor temperatures and quiet operation.

For those not satisfied with the standard cooling configuration, they are still provided ample opportunity for expansion, either by increasing the number of fans, both opting for sophisticated cooling liquids, which are in this case their ideal environment.
